The evening started with a social hour, in which attendees started greeting each other and asking their whereabouts. Some started browsing through vendor booths, some started shopping.
Program Promptly started at 7:30; event emcees Rajeshwari and Sameera welcomed everyone and Keerthi Chamakura sang US and Indian national anthems followed by candle lighting (Jyothi Prajwalana) ceremony and offered prayer to Lord Ganesha to bless the event. Cultural activities kick started with young kids performed to the popular numbers, attendees started cheering the performers. Later DATA President Mahendar Ganapuram was called on to the stage, speaking on the occasion he said, he is thrilled and overjoyed with the response and said, DATA is established 7 years back with a vision to “Connect Telangana Community to promote Culture, Charity and Commerce” and urged the attendees to support DATA events and the team that put together the DATA Cultural Night 2017. Mahendar Introduced event coordinator and president elect 2018; Kiran Gontuka to the audience and said, without kiran and the event team, this event would not have been a successful one.
Kiran, thanked ocean of people who came to the event and invited event team on to the stage; Bhaskar Arroju (Secretary), Neelohita Kotha (Jt.Secretary), Sumana Sareddy (Cultural), Madhavi Reddy (Decorations), Satish Nandre (Audio & Video) , Praveen Ekkati (Treasurer) Bala Amudala Jt.Treasurer, for working tirelessly to make the event a grand success. He also thanked all performers, choreographers, sponsors and DATA Foundation team for giving the very platform where he was standing. He also thanked youngsters Madhukar and Ramya Reddy for helping with the event and requested younger generation to be part of DATA.
Later Mahendar introduced DATA foundation Team, Board of Trustees, Office bearers, Executive Committee, Core Team, CAB team, Charity team and thanked them for supporting him.
Mahendar said that, as part of charity initiative DATA is supporting Nishant Cancer Foundation (NCF) and conducting annual 5k run to raise funds to find a cure to Ewing Sarcoma Cancer, to which young Nishant Venishetty lost his life. In his memory Nishant’s parents Ravi and Sheila Venishetty established a NCF. Over the past 5 years DATA and NCF together raised $60,000 and donated to Dr. James Amatruda, who is researching cure for Ewing Sarcoma Cancer at UT Southwestern Medical School. Mahendar Invited Dr. James Amatruda and Sheila Venishetty on to the stage, Dr Amatruda said, he is thankful to DATA and NCF for donating the money and thanked the community for supporting the cause. Sheila said, they lost her loving son Nishant Venishetty to the dreaded disease 5 years back, and vowed to help other kids, she thanked DATA for supporting NCF and conducting 5k RUN every year to spread the awareness and raising funds. Later Mahendar also said, DATA supports charity organizations “Be The Match “to create leukemia awareness and Sankara Eye Foundation to promote eye donation after life.
Later Mahendar invited special invitees Padmasree Ashok Mago, Salman Farshory – IANT president along with IANT office bearers and felicitated them for their community service by awarding “Outstanding Community Service Award”. Speaking on the occasion Salman said, he is honored to be on DATA stage and thanked DATA for doing community service. Sri Ashok Mago said, he is thrilled and humbled for the kind gesture towards him. Later another special Invitee Telangana Ex. Member of Parliament Sri. Atmacharan Reddy was called on to the stage and was felicitated with “Outstanding Community Service Award “, he said – he is very much impressed and thrilled to know that DATA is the first Telangana Organization in entire North America. He congratulated President Mahendar and president elect Kiran Gontuka for carrying the mantle to promote and protect Telangana culture. He also thanked DATA team and all the people who worked for the organization for the past 7 years and urged them to groom younger generation.
Over 1500 people from all walks of life attended the cultural show, emcees Rajeshwari and Sameera entertained audiences with their conversation and introduced 14 performances, choreographed by 12 choreographers, Anamika Chaubey of Dancing starZ
,Ashirvad Garu ,Kirthi Chamakura ,Ramya Reddy ,Ravi Gunty of M-Crew ,Rupa Banda of Rupa Dance Academy ,Sreedevi Yadlapati of Sai Nritya Academy ,Srilatha Suri ,Suma Vizzapu ,Suruchi Mathew of Dancing Divas ,Swapna Gudemella of Ragaleena Dance Academy Veena Arroju. over 130 kids performed to various popular songs in classical, folk, Hollywood, Bollywood and Tollywood. Singers Sandeep Kurapati and Niharika Malegye entertained the audience by singing popular numbers.
Basera Indian Cuisine of Plano TX, presenting sponsor of the event made elaborate arrangements and prepared special items for the night.
DATA Secretary Bhaskar Arroju thanked all the attendees, sponsors, volunteers and DATA team for coming in big numbers and making the event a memorable one.
