9th January 2014: On Dec 22nd, 2013 TANA conducted TANA health camp on Gastric diseases in the town of Parchoor, Prakasam district. A team of 13, which included 4 doctors, came from the world reputed Asian Institute of Gastroenterology, located in Hyderabad. This might be the first and most unique camp that TANA has organized to reach the rural areas to bring awareness and educate people about the various Gastric Diseases as well as provide regular checkup where there is no proper source of treatment.
Recent survey shows that more than 25% of our population is suffering from Gastric Diseases. Citizens that live in urban and rural locations also suffer from Gastric illnesses due to an improper diet and a lack of awareness to the changes they should make to their daily lifestyle. Thus, it is a necessity to bring camps like this forward, especially in places where many people live under the poverty line and cannot afford or access treatment.
In this camp, doctors performed costly tests, including Endoscopy and Ultrasonic scans. In addition, free medicines were provided after the tests to the patients at the camp.
Total Patients attended: 450 (optimum capacity= 300 per day)
Ultrasonic scans: 80
Endoscopic test: 43
Sugar tests: 70
TANA executive said that ‘This camp would not be possible without the help of Andhra Joythy MD, Vemuri Radhakrishna garu’. Ashok Kolla coordinated all logistics and Jay Kureti, Past Mid Atlantic Regional Representative, came all the way from Hyderabad to attend this camp. Furthermore, TANA is thankful to it’s President, Mohan Nannapaneni garu, and Foundation Chairman, Jay Talluri garu.
