Chicago, May 11th 2014: ‘Friends of the Chicago River, conducted the Chicago River Clean up Day on May 10th 2014 and TAGC Community Service group volunteered at Lake Katherine in Palos Heights, IL. TAGC Adults and Youth Participants started arriving at around 8.45 AM, completed the registration process by about 9.10 AM, collect the FREE T-Shirt and then all volunteers were trained on how to remove the teasels with roots. Lake Katherine staff provided all the required tools and assigned an open site for TAGC group. It was little difficult at the beginning to dig into the roots but our experience for first few minutes taught the best ways and finally able to collect the garbage about 20 big trash bags. Team wrapped up digging right after 11 AM and started collecting the trash bags and moved to a big trash area. The whole staff was very supportive and guided us all the way along. All the team was served with Pizza by TAGC and headed home around Noon.   TAGC President Srinivas Pedamallu, Community Service Chair Malathi Damaraju, Youth Committee Chair Vandana Reddy and TAGC Executive committee and BODs Ravi Upad, Kiran Mattey and Siva Pasumarthi thanked Lake Katherine management for giving TAGC this wonderful opportunity and to all the adults and youth for attending the event and making it as grand success. On an another note, TAGC President Srinivas announced this is a great start to serve the local community and looking to conduct more events like these in near future and requested more support from all TAGC Community. He also reminded the High School students that these service hours are eligible to claim as voluntary hours at their schools. Youth Working Still
