10th October 2015, Pleasanton, California: A fund raising event “Laser Dandiya and Bollywood Night” was hosted in Pleasanton, California, to promote youth cricket in Tri-Valley (Pleasanton, Dublin, Livermore & San Ramon) Public Schools. More than 600 people attended the event.

 

Today, youth cricket clubs are already operational at Fallon Middle School, Dublin and Harvest Park Middle School, Pleasanton with 100 and 50 registered kids respectively. Currently volunteer parents operate these clubs. They are actively working with their respective schools to bring in a professional coach to train the kids in the game of cricket. There is a plan in the works to conduct inter-school tournament with first match being targeted to be played in second week of December 2015. Additionally, kids with the help of parent volunteers in Tri-Valley area are working to start cricket clubs in, Hart Middle School, Pleasanton, Iron horse and DVMS in San Ramon, Amador Elementary in Dublin.

Shiva Vashishat, ex-captain for US U19 national team, Sunny Singh, who was the US national teams selection committee member, Sunil Kumar President, Northern California Cricket Association, Adam Popick, faculty advisor at Harvest Park Middle School and Clint Copeland, cricket coach at Harvest Park Middle School spoke during the event. Srihari Dasarathy, US U19 opening batsman, Gaurav Patanker, US U19 Opening bowler sent in recorded video messages to motivate the kids and thank the parents for encouraging kids playing cricket at schools.
